Designation of the NIRS by the IAEA as a CBC Medical Area

On September 20th, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) designated the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS) of the National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology in Japan, as a Capacity Building Center (CBC) for the area of medical management of radiation exposure and dose assessment.

The NIRS has been verified to meet the requirements of the above fields of a CBC by the IAEA.
This designation of a CBC by the IAEA is the second such case in Japan (the fourth in the world) following the CBC in Fukushima Prefecture as a role of Emergency Preparedness and Response in 2013.
