Japan works closely with the Vienna-based United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to support the development of countries through industrialization. UNIDO is a specialized agency of the UN mandated to promote the industrialization of developing countries through various activities such as technical cooperation.
Goal 9 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aims at “Building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and fostering innovation”. UNIDO is an important partner of Japan in its efforts toward the implementation of the SDGs.

This publication offers information on the ongoing and recently completed UNIDO projects supported by Japan, in cooperation with various developing countries, and in a variety of fields.
Partnership with the private sector is key to these projects. Our collaboration aims toward achievement of the SDGs.
