Visit of UNIDO Director-General to Japan

1  Mr. Li Yong, Director-General of UNIDO, visited Japan from 10 to 12 April.
2  During his visit, the DG paid courtesy calls to Mr. Nobuo Kishi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Takumi Ihara, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.  He also engaged in an exchange of views on a wide range of matters related to the Japan-UNIDO relationship with Mr. Mr. Koichi Aiboshi, Director General for Global Issues. Topics included cooperation in the promotion of Human Security, utilization of technologies and know-how of the Japanese private sector in UNIDO’s projects in recipient States, effective governance of the UNIDO Secretariat, as well as Japanese representation in the Secretariat’s structure.
3  The DG delivered a keynote speech during the “Japan-UNIDO multi-stakeholder cooperation dialogue” held by UNIDO, and engaged proactively in discussions with participants from the Japanese private sector.
