Fourth Intersessional Meeting of the Working Group on the Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities at Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna

On 5 June 2017, the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna provided the meeting venue for the Fourth Intersessional Meeting of the Working Group on the Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities. Approximately 100 government representatives from the member states of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) participated in the meeting.
 
The productive meeting, facilitated by Dr. Peter Martinez, Chairman of the Working Group, led to lively discussions and open exchanges encouraging member states of COPUOS to reach agreement on guidelines regarding space debris among others.
 
During the plenary of COPUOS, Dr. Peter Martinez, as well as the delegations of other countries in attendance thanked the Mission of Japan for hosting the venue.
