The 2nd Donor Meeting was held on the occasion of the 16th General Conference of UNIDO

At this meeting, a project in Egypt (Inclusive Socio-Economic Development in Upper Egypt project (HAYAT)) was discussed. Mr. Yuichi Oba, Counsellor of the Japanese Embassy in Egypt, attended as a panelist. Mr. Oba explained the reason for Japan’s decision to fund this Human Security project, and presented an assessment of the project’s results.


Mr. Oba additionally emphasized on UNIDO’s network function with local communities and the Organization’s expertise in providing know-how that is necessary for local communities. He explained that this project contributed to the increase of productivity and income of local farmers, and had the potential to spread these benefits to surrounding areas. Moreover, he highlighted that UNIDO paid elaborate attention to increasing the visibility of this project in Egypt, and that UNIDO was a strong supporter of the Human Security concept.
