A Koto (Traditional Japanese Harp) Concert

On 20 June 2012, a koto (traditional Japanese harp) concert performed by Ms. Fuyuki Enokido, Japan Cultural Envoy, was held at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna. Around 100 guests, including H.E. HRH Ms. Mahidol Bajrakitiyabha (Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Thailand), permanent representatives and senior staff of international organizations, attended the concert.
After the remarks by Ambassador Toshiro Ozawa, Ms. Enokido played four pieces; a traditional koto piece “Rokudan no Shirabe”(variation in six columns), an old Japanese folk tune “Sakura, Sakura”(cherry blossom), “Ama no Megumi”(grace of heaven) composed by Ms. Enokido and “Kaze ni Kike”(Listen to the winds) as encore.
Many guests were impressed by Ms. Enokido’s high level performance and showed great interest in the Japanese traditional music instrument, koto.
