Food Security: Animal Disease Control

Livestock are the lifeblood of African society, providing financial and food security for around 300 million people. However, it is estimated that 25% of animals die annually from preventable diseases. In countries such as Cameroon, nuclear and nuclear-related technologies are playing an essential role in maintaining animal health and protecting vulnerable communities from outbreaks of disease.

Protecting Africa's Lifeblood: Animal Disease Control in Cameroon, focusing on strengthening veterinary diagnostic laboratories in Africa for rapid and specific diagnosis of trans-boundary animal diseases.
