Japan contributes additional 6.5 million USD to UNODC project in Pakistan

The Government of Japan has decided to extend its grant aid to UNODC by up to 769,000,000 Japanese Yen (approximately 6.5 million USD) to implement the "Project for Strengthening Border Security against Illicit Drug Trafficking and Related Transnational Organized Crime in Pakistan”.
 
On 10 March, the Government of Japan and UNODC exchanged notes with Mr. Junya Matsuura, Charge d'Affaires a.i., Embassy of Japan in Pakistan and Mr. Cesar Guedes, Representative of UNODC of Pakistan.
 
This project helps strengthen the capacities of law enforcement agencies to effectively interdict illicit drug trafficking and to control borders. It also aims to suppress illicit drug trafficking, counter terrorism and develop border regions in a stabilized and balanced manner.
