UNIDO held a Side Event entitled “Sustainable industrialization for climate action” on the occasion of 16th General Conference on 3rd December.
Panelists discussed the potential contribution of sustainable industrial development to tackling the challenges of climate change, as well as measures that need to be pursued for this purpose.
Mr. Masahiko Horie, Ambassador of Global Environment Affairs (SE4ALL Advisory Board Member) participated in this side event from Japan. Ambassador Horie explained that the activities of SE4ALL and measures taken by the Japanese industry have resulted in Japan achieving the highest level of energy efficiency in the world. He also stressed that acceleration of innovation and improvement of energy efficiency should be mainstreamed in the sustainable industrial development and poverty reduction activities of LDCs.
