Japan contributes additional 2,260,000 USD to UNODC project in Tajikistan

The Government of Japan has decided to extend its grant aid to UNODC by up to 267,000,000 Japanese Yen (approximately 2,260,000 USD) to implement the “Project for Strengthening Border Security in Khatlon Region”.
On 9 March, the Government of Japan and UNODC exchanged notes with Mr. Mr. Takashi Kamada, Charge d'affaires a.i. Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan and Ms. Ashita Mittal, the regional representative of the regional office for Central Asia, UNODC.
This cooperation helps strengthen the border control capacities of law enforcement agencies and to enhance Tajikistan’s response to illicit trafficking of drugs and fire arms, and aims to support sustainable economic and social development by improving the security situation in the region.
