Japan thanks Director General for his report and welcomes the updates given by Australia on behalf of the AUKUS partners. We appreciate their efforts to further ensure transparency and their firm commitment to maintaining the highest possible non-proliferation standards.
Japan welcomes the engagement between the Agency and Australia, including through a series of technical consultations. We are also pleased to hear that Australia provided to the Agency with the required information under its CSA and AP, and that the Agency was able to conduct in-field verification activities and a transparency visit in Australia.
Japan trusts that the Secretariat will carry out its work in accordance with the Agency’s statutory mandate and the relevant safeguards agreements and APs that the Board of Governors has approved. We steadily support the dedicated efforts of the Secretariat to find ways to facilitate possible verification and monitoring activities.
