The 3rd Donor Meeting on the occasion of UNIDO’s 50th Anniversary

The 3rd Donor Meeting was held on the occasion of UNIDO’s 50th Anniversary. At the Peace Panel, a project funded by Japan in support of Syrian refugees in Turkey was presented as an example of good practice. Fumito Miyake, Minister-Counsellor of the Permanent Mission participated in the meeting as a panellist. He was invited to report on Japan’s motivation to fund such programs and its expectations towards the projects in the long term. Minister-Counsellor Miyake emphasized the added value of the human security approach which is strongly embedded in Japan’s assistance strategy. He commended UNIDO’s realistic approach towards meeting refugee’s specific needs, leading to not only creating self-reliance among refugees, but also promoting Turkey’s economic development.
