Seminar on “National and International Mechanism of Space Law”


On 16 April, on the occasion of the fifty-second session of Legal Subcommittee of COPUOS, a seminar on “National and International Mechanism of Space Law” was held at the Vienna International Centre (VIC), co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan Aerospace and Exploration Agency (JAXA). Delegations from 41 countries as well as from international organizations and other bodies participated in this seminar.
Following the opening remarks by Ambassador Toshiro OZAWA,Prof. Irmgard Marboe, University of Vienna and chair of the “National Legislation” Working Group, made a presentation entitled “The importance of national space legislation for the peaceful uses of outer space”, and Prof. Setsuko Aoki, Keio University and chair of the “International Cooperation Mechanism” Working Group, made a presentation entitled “International Cooperation in the Peaceful Exploration and Use of Outer Space for the Benefit and Interest of All States: Our Common Future”.
