Japan contributes additional 5 million USD to UNIDO project in Pakistan

The Government of Japan has decided to extend its grant aid to UNIDO to implement “The Project for Agri-food and Agro-industry Development Assistance in Pakistan” with 560,000,000 Japanese Yen (approx. 5.2 million USD). UNIDO will closely cooperate with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
On 5 August, in Islamabad, Mr. Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Ms. Nadia Aftab, UNIDO Country Representative, Country Office in Pakistan, signed and exchanged the corresponding Notes for implementation of the project.
The project aims at revitalizing the livelihood of value chain actors in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, through the introduction of best practice. UNIDO will support the introduction of food production / processing technologies, facilities and materials for processing, packaging and storage. UNIDO will also provide technical support to improve market access.
