UNIDO第53会期産業開発理事会:議題20:事務局長ポスト立候補者の推薦におけるステートメント(海部篤大使)(英語)

令和7年6月30日
(Outset)
Mr. President,
Since this is the first time I take the floor, allow me to congratulate you, Ambassador Malik of Pakistan and the rest of the Bureau on your election while assuring you of our full support. I would also like to thank Ambassador Gabriela Sellner of Austria, and the outgoing bureau for their excellent services.
Japan aligns itself with the statements of the Western European and Others Group,
and would like to add the following remarks in our national capacity.
(Congratulatory remarks)
Japan warmly congratulates Director General Müller on being recommended by the Board for the second term. We highly commend his outstanding leadership and reaffirm our strong support for his reappointment.
Over the course of his first term, DG Müller has delivered significant tangible results in response to the international community’s growing expectations toward UNIDO in an increasingly complex global environment.
(Japan–UNIDO Partnership)
Japan particularly values an ever more deepened Japan–UNIDO partnership under his leadership. Collaboration with the Japanese private sector has been significantly enhanced.
Our continued confidence in UNIDO and its management are demonstrated by ongoing initiatives, including support to Ukraine through the “Green Industrial Recovery Programme” and efforts to advance sustainable industrial development across the Global South.
At the same time, Japan expects further effective implementation of the management reform, including further strengthening of field offices. We request financial discipline and an efficient use of available resources, including for personnel.
(Closing)
We will continue to work closely together to tackle today’s pressing global challenges under the strong and capable leadership of DG Müller.
Thank you, Mr. President.
