Japan takes note of Document PBC.42/4 Report of the External Auditor on the accounts of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization for the financial year 1 January to 31 December 2025, and welcomes the progress made in implementing past audit recommendations. Japan encourages management to continue addressing the remaining findings, especially those of high priority, in a timely and systematic manner.
Strengthening governance and accountability remains essential. On this note, Japan is encouraged by the Director General’s address to Member States this morning, regarding the allegations that have been circulating since last year. Japan urges UNIDO to further transparency and accountability to its Member States, and to take timely and appropriate action based on the outcomes of independent investigations.
Japan looks forward to continued engagement with UNIDO Management and the OAC to ensure that the Organization upholds the highest standards of transparency, integrity and accountability.
