IAEA6月理事会(議題15:その他(AUKUS豪州原子力潜水艦取得計画))ステートメント(引原毅大使)(英語)
令和4年6月10日
Thank you, Chair,
Japan welcomes the updates given by the three States concerned and Director General Grossi in this initial stage of the trilateral cooperation on nuclear naval propulsion. Japan also welcomes the engagement between the three States and the IAEA on this matter, including the technical consultations between those States and the Agency, in line with their respective safeguards agreements.
It is crucially important to maintain and strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation regime. Recalling that the leaders of the three States are fully committed to establishing a robust approach that strengthens the global non-proliferation regime, Japan believes that they will ensure that this AUKUS initiative is carried out in a manner that sets a strong non-proliferation example. We would welcome further updates on this issue, as appropriate, in the Director General's introductory statements or in the respective three countries' statements under the AOB agenda item.
