IAEA9月理事会(議題10 その他)ステートメント(海部篤大使)(英語)
令和7年9月11日
Thank you, Chair,
With regard to Australia’s naval nuclear propulsion program, Japan welcomes the updates given by Australia. We appreciate AUKUS partners’ efforts to further ensure transparency and their firm commitment to maintaining the highest possible non-proliferation standards.
Japan trusts that the Secretariat will carry out its work in accordance with the Agency’s statutory mandate and the relevant safeguards agreements that the Board of Governors has approved. We steadily support their dedicated efforts to find ways to facilitate possible verification and monitoring activities in relation to the program.
Chair,
Japan is pleased to associate itself with the Joint Statement of the Group of Friends of Women in Nuclear.
Japan supports the IAEA's broader efforts to promote women's participation in the nuclear field, including through the contribution of 1.7 million euros to the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme, supporting over 80 fellows, and hosting of a Lise Meitner Programme in Japan this June.
Japan would like to encourage further support by fellow Member States.
