IAEA6月理事会(議題5(f) イランにおける保障措置協定及び国連安保理決議関連規定の実施)ステートメント(海部篤大使)(英語)

令和8年6月10日
Thank you, Chair,

Japan thanks the DG for his reports. We express our support for the Secretariat’s continued efforts and commend their professionalism.

Almost one year has elapsed since the adoption of the resolution finding non-compliance and the cessation of verification of sensitive nuclear material, especially, the accumulated highly enriched uranium. Currently, verification activities have been almost totally suspended in Iran with just few exceptions.

Japan reiterates its serious concern over the situation and takes serious note of the fact that no safeguards conclusion has been drawn regarding that material. We continue to urge Iran to cooperate with the Agency for an urgent resumption of full implementation of safeguards, including the submission of special reports for the affacted nuclear facilities and associated nuclear material, and to remedy its non-compliance as soon as possible.

Japan’s position, which places importance on resolving Iran’s nuclear issue through dialogue, remains unchanged. The peace and stability of the Middle East are of utmost importance to Japan. What matters most is that a long-lasting agreement between the U.S. and Iran on Iran’s nuclear issue will be achieved as soon as possible. We will continue to make diplomatic efforts in coordination with the international community.

Japan requests the DG to keep the Board of Governors informed on this issue.

Thank you, Chair.
