IAEA9月理事会(議題6(d) イランにおける保障措置協定及び国連安保理決議関連規定の実施)ステートメント(海部篤大使)(英語)
令和8年9月9日
Thank you, Chair,
Japan thanks the Director General for his reports and expresses its support for the Secretariat’s continued efforts.
Japan regrets that there has been no inspection conducted in Iran after the previous Board of Governors meeting. Sensitive nuclear material, especially the accumulated highly enriched uranium, has not been verified for more than one year. Japan reiterates its serious concern over the situation and continues to urge Iran to cooperate with the Agency for an urgent resumption of full and effective implementation of safeguards, including the submission of special reports, as required by its safeguards agremeent. Iran must remedy its non-compliance as soon as possible.
Japan’s position, which places importance on resolving Iran’s nuclear issue through dialogue, remains unchanged. Peace and stability in the Middle East are of utmost importance to Japan. Japan strongly hopes for the resumption of talks between the United States and Iran and an early achievement of a final agreement including Iran’s nuclear issue. In this regard, Japan welcomes the DG's readiness to support the implementation of verification measures in relation to such an agreement. We will continue to make diplomatic efforts in coordination with the international community.
Japan requests the DG to keep the Board of Governors informed on this issue.
